Liverpool setback as Jeremie Frimpong sidelined for Nottingham Forest clash

Liverpool’s ongoing problems at right-back have deepened, with summer arrival Jeremie Frimpong ruled out of the upcoming Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.
Although there was optimism that the Dutch defender was close to returning, The Athletic reports he is still short of full fitness and is expected to miss at least another week of action.

Frimpong sidelined again

Frimpong’s first season at Anfield has been plagued by interruptions, and his latest muscle injury — picked up during Liverpool’s Champions League win over Qarabag — continues to frustrate head coach Arne Slot.

Early checks suggested the problem was not as serious as initially feared, but Liverpool are taking a highly cautious stance. The club is believed to be giving Frimpong extra time to recover fully, particularly due to his previous hamstring troubles earlier in the campaign.
With Conor Bradley ruled out for the rest of the season and Joe Gomez being carefully managed amid fitness concerns, Liverpool are severely stretched for natural defensive options.

Szoboszlai to deputise at right-back again
In Frimpong’s absence, Dominik Szoboszlai is set to continue at right-back.

The Hungary captain has been outstanding this season, with Slot recently praising his adaptability and tireless work rate as “almost unbelievable.” His seamless switch from an advanced midfield role into defence has proved vital for the Reds.

Szoboszlai once again impressed in the role during the 3-0 FA Cup victory over Brighton, even netting a spectacular goal to crown another top-class display.
