Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala will be making her long-awaited Grand Slam debut, set to see action at Roland-Garros in May.
Alex Eala is officially going to make her highly-anticipated debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam as she was included in the entry list for women’s singles at Roland-Garros, the tournament announced.
After her stellar run in the Miami Open that propelled her into the WTA top-75 in a matter of weeks, Eala received an official invite to play in the main draw of the French Open slated to begin next month.
Previously falling short of the main draw with just one win to go in qualifiers, the 19-year-old will now head straight into a proper Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career as a professional.

Eala, ranked world no. 72 in the latest rankings, is in the 74th position of the French Open list.
Among the top contenders in the tournament is Eala’s Miami Open foe Iga Swiatek, who is seeded second. The Polish superstar will enter Roland-Garros as the three-time defending champion.
World no. 1 and Miami Open winner Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed.
Jessica Pegula, Eala’s tormentor at the Miami Open semis, is the no. 3 seed in the tournament.
Coco Gauff and Madison Keys are seeded 4th and 5th, respectively.
Paula Badosa, who was supposed to be Eala’s Round of 16 opponent in Miami but had to withdraw due to injury, will also be competing.
Leylah Fernandez, who has Filipino heritage, is set to see action at the French Open as well.
Eala’s current Portugal doubles partner Katie Volynets is also in the main draw.
Before the French Open, though, Eala will have a string of clay tournaments to prepare for the biggest tournament of her career so far.
Eala is currently playing at the Oeiras Ladies Open, where she recently won her first match against Anouka Koevermans on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, she and Voleynets face off against Christina Rosca and Carmen Corley in the Round of 16 of the women’s doubles tournament.
