The Swede had nothing but admiration for Nadal’s mental strength and relentless fighting spirit. Bjorn, a man who knows firsthand what it takes to dominate the court, praised Rafa’s never-give-up attitude that defined his career over two decades.
Nadal’s ability to battle through adversity, whether he is leading or facing match points, has earned him respect across generations. His resilience and willingness to fight until the last ball have made him one of the sport’s greatest icons – especially on clay.
As the Swedish legend described him, Nadal is the king of clay following his 14 Roland Garros titles and numerous Masters 1000 shields. Rafa dominated in Paris between 2005 and 2022, lifting 14 of 18 trophies and embracing domination that no one will ever match at any Major!

Nadal clinched his 22nd Major title in Paris three years ago. However, he experienced injuries and setbacks in the next half a year, and missed almost an entire 2023. The grand champion returned in 2024 and embraced his final season the Tour.
The Swede’s praise echoes the sentiment of fans and players worldwide: Nadal’s greatness is not only measured in trophies, but in his unshakable will and fighting spirit, regardless the odds. A true warrior of modern tennis!
“Mentally, Rafa is the strongest player I have seen. What he has accomplished is incredible – he is the king of clay. You have never seen a player like him on the court. He fights regardless of the result and wants to win every match and tournament,” Bjorn Borg said.
