Despite facing a challenging start to the 2024 season, Tiger Woods has managed to find a silver lining. Recently, Woods, who has made history by making the cut for the Masters 24 consecutive times, found himself struggling at the PGA Championship. Woods landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with a 16-over, marking a difficult period for the 15-time major champion. Reflecting on his performance, Woods had hoped for improvement in the subsequent majors, stating, “I’m going to do my homework going forward at Pinehurst (U.S. Open), Valhalla, and Troon (The Open), but that’s kind of the game plan.”
However, the opening round at Valhalla proved challenging as well, with Woods scoring a 1-over 72. This placed him far from the top, continuing a trend of underwhelming performances as he struggled to even reach par.
Amid these professional hurdles, Woods has also been heavily involved with the TGL, the tech-infused golf league he co-founded with Rory McIlroy. While the league has faced its share of challenges, it has seen positive developments recently. Most team rosters are now filled, and fan engagement is growing. A recent poll highlighted the popularity of the TGL, with Woods’ team, Jupiter Links GC, leading the vote for the best logo.
In a lighter moment, Woods found a rare win over Adam Scott off the course. Both golfers, tied for 85th place after the Thursday round at Valhalla, found themselves competing in a different arena—social media. The TGL’s official Instagram account conducted a poll asking fans to choose between the logos of Woods’ Jupiter Links GC and Scott’s Boston Common Golf. Jupiter Links GC secured 57% of the votes, giving Woods a morale-boosting victory in fan engagement.
While Woods’ performance on the course remains a work in progress, his involvement in the TGL continues to show promise and keeps his competitive spirit alive.
