It is no secret in tennis circles and among fans that world no. 1 Novak Djokovic is very close to his father Srjdan. Djokovic senior has been a constant at his son’s matches throughout his career except in the last couple of weeks when he has been ill.

Srjdan has been in an intensive care unit in Germany due to an acute respiratory illness and after winning the World Tour FInals in London, Novak flew to be with his father. Novak dedicated his win in London to his father.
“Having my father fighting his own fight for health gave me extra strength that I wanted to play for him in a way,” Djokovic commented. “That’s one of the reasons I really gave it all in every match.
This was a title for him. At a certain stage, it was very critical. We didn’t know what the next day would bring. But

now he’s much better and he’s recovering. I’m going to visit him tomorrow and see how it goes and try to bring the trophy with me and at least make him smile.”
