Sharon Stone’s G-string moment reveals sad truth

By | June 4, 2024

The internet went into a meltdown this week when Sharon Stone posted a photo on Instagram of her wearing a G-string bikini, and I’m so sick of people being shocked that an ageing woman is still hot.

Stone is in her mid-60s, and the image prompted plenty of famous people to respond with praise and support.

Singer Kelly Rowland commented, “Get it!” Not sure what ‘it’ is she wants Stone to get but it was clearly a compliment.

Designer Vera Wang, actor Michelle Pfeiffer and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna filled up the comment section by posting flame emojis under the bikini pic.

The consensus was that she looked smoking hot and the celebrities were all for it.

It was everyone else that was acting completely shocked.

People commenting online kept mentioning that she is sixty-five and it was clear they were surprised she looked so good because of her age.

No one is commenting under a photo of Khloe Kardashian in a bikini: “Wow, 38!”

We’ve been seeing this heaps lately – 2023 is the year that celebrities over fifty go viral because everyone is just amazed that they are still so attractive.

Martha Stewart, 81, made waves by being a cover girl for Sports Illustrated, Demi Moore, 60, routinely gets attention for posting photos of herself in a bikini, and Nicole Kidman, 55, started the trend in 2022 and sent the internet into a frenzy when she appeared in a mini skirt on the cover of Vanity Fair.

The same discourse always ensues.

Some people argue that these older women are promoting unrealistic ageing standards, others applaud them for looking so good, and there’s usually an argument floating around that these women should tone it down and dress their age.

It all becomes a bit of a feminist nightmare.

Should you be excited that Stone looks so hot in her sixties or worried she still feels the need to conform to the traditional beauty standards?

I don’t know the answer to this, but I only have to keep my eyes open and walk around the block to realise that it shouldn’t be surprising that older women are hot.

Sure, they might not all look like Sharon Stone in the same way I’m in my 20s and don’t look like Florence Pugh, but older women are very hot.

What frustrates me, even more, is we act like women that look good past their forties are keeping some kind of secret from us.

We like to pretend that Sonia Kruger secretly has the serum for eternal youth, but instead of selling it on the black market for a fortune she has decided to dedicate her life to hosting every show on Network Seven in a sparkly dress.

Maybe if there was more representation of women over fifty we’d stop being so surprised to discover how great they look.

We absolutely don’t act shocked that Brad Pitt or George Clooney is still hot. It is just assumed men will continue to be attractive.

Sad truth about star’s weight

Women have been sold this lie that they will age and no longer be attractive and so famous women that defy that lie astonish us.

We are confused, shocked and instantly demand answers! Like they are some kind of exotic zoo animal that Justin Bieber has tried to own.

Next time you go to the supermarket or your local shopping centre or even just to the park – look around and you’ll realise that women are hot at any age and any stage of life and then suddenly Stone’s bikini snap won’t seem so shocking anymore.
