Bianca Andreescu recently expressed her dislike for tennis warm-up sessions, a sentiment later echoed by her compatriot, Eugenie Bouchard. Andreescu, who was sidelined since the National Bank Open last year due to a back injury, returned at this year’s French Open.
The Canadian reached the third round at the clay-court slam before losing to Jasmine Paolini. Andreescu’s most recent appearance was at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, where the Italian defeated her again 7-6(4), 6-1 in the third round.
Meanwhile, Bouchard joined the Professional Pickleball Association in September last year. Despite this move, she insisted she had not entirely given up on tennis. However, her prolonged absence from the sport caused her WTA ranking to plummet to No. 521. Her most recent match was in the qualifiers of an ITF event in May, where the 30-year-old conceded a walkover to her opponent, Kayla Day.
The former US Open champion recently shared a two-slide post on Instagram, where she was seen on a grass court wearing an all-white tennis dress. She also added a funny note in the captions, expressing her dislike for the warm-up sessions.
“Caption thisss, When coach says “just a warm-up” but you’re already out of breath 😂,” she wrote.
Eugenie Bouchard shared her thoughts in the comments, echoing Andreescu’s sentiments. The thirty-year-old agreed, highlighting the toughness associated with the physical warm-up, writing:
“Omg that’s the worst. Especially when it’s the physical warm up to the warm up.”)

Eugenie Bouchard praised Bianca Andreescu for supporting the Canadian tennis team by attending the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup. During a pre-tournament press conference at last year’s ITF Oeiras Ladies Open, Bouchard mentioned that although she couldn’t follow the matches due to the time zone difference, she received updates from Andreescu, who was in Spain.
“The time zone is a bit too hard. I’ve been texting some of the girls and I was actually talking with Bianca and she flew over there just to like support and I was like ‘wow, you’re so sweet’. I mean she was in Miami and went all the way to Vancouver, so it was nice to see all the girls supporting each other like that,” Bouchard said [at 8:42].
Led by Leylah Fernandez, the Canadian team lifted their maiden Billie Jean King Cup last year after defeating Czech Republic 1-2 in the semifinals and Italy 2-0 in the finals.
