Jannik Sinner was spotted in the gym talking to his girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya after his US Open semifinal win over Jack Draper. The Italian was also icing his wrist amid injury worries after a nasty fall during the match.

Top seed Sinner faced 25th seed Draper in the semifinal of the US Open on Friday, September 6, at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Brit had not lost a set in the tournament and the Italian came into the New York Major with an impressive Cincinnati Open triumph.

The competitors held serve till 3-3 in the first set when Sinner broke Draper to lead 4-3. However, the Brit responded immediately to make it 4-4 before the World No. 1 crucially earned a break at 5-5 to close to set on his serve.

In a bizarre second set, both competitors were ailing in separate incidents as Draper threw up on the court and Sinner suffered a nasty fall and hurt his left wrist. However, their performance did not take too much of a hit as they held serve throughout the set and Sinner claimed it in the tiebreaker.

At 2-2 in the third set, Sinner asserted his dominance by winning four consecutive games, securing a 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-2 victory to advance to his maiden US Open final.

Afterward, the Italian was spotted in the gym cooling down with his team including his girlfriend Kalinskaya beside him. The couple was chatting as Sinner iced his wrist.

The World No. 1 will take on America’s Taylor Fritz in the final of the 2024 US Open.

Jannik Sinner and Jack Draper had both taken medical timeouts during their US Open semifinal clash. Sinner, who advanced to the final, addressed the left wrist injury concerns during his post-match press conference.

“The physio loosened it up very fast on court so I felt okay in the beginning then after it went away with playing which is good. Let’s see how it is tomorrow when it’s cold. It’s gonna be a different feeling, hopefully, it’s nothing to concern about,” Jannik Sinner said.

“I’m quite relaxed because if it’s something bad you feel it straightaway a bit more so yeah let’s see how it is,” he added.

Sinner will face 12th seed Taylor Fritz in the final after the American defeated compatriot Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals. The pair are tied 1-1 in their head-to-head record and will meet for the third time on tour in the championship match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, on Sunday, September 8.
