Andre Agassi recently fondly looked back on his wife Steffi Graf’s historic feat of completing the calendar year Golden Slam. Agassi sent his love to Graf as he took note of the German’s remarkable accomplishment on the 36th anniversary of her gold medal win at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
After a breakthrough year in 1987, during which she won her maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open and became the World No. 1, Graf kicked off her 1998 season as the top seed at the Australian Open. After a stellar campaign, she defeated Chris Evert 6-1, 7-6(3) in the final to clinch her maiden title at the Melbourne Slam.
The German continued her dominant run at the French Open, reaching the final without dropping a set. The then-World No. 1 successfully defended her crown by claiming a clinical 6-0, 6-0 win over Natasha Zvereva in the title clash.
Graf faced her toughest test at the Wimbledon Championships, as she came up against six-time defending champion Martina Navratilova in the final. Despite losing the opening set, she toppled Navratilova by raising her level to secure a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Steffi Graf then completed the coveted Calendar Grand Slam by triumphing over Gabriela Sabatini 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the US Open final. A few weeks later, on October 1, the duo met again in the final of the Seoul Olympics.
Graf emerged victorious once more, beating Sabatini 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the gold medal and make history as the only player to achieve the calendar year Golden Slam at just 19 years of age.
To commemorate the 36th anniversary of the historic feat, Andre Agassi took to social media and shared a picture of Steffi Graf with her gold medal, along with a heart emoji.
“💛,” he captioned his Instagam post.
The American also reshared a post detailing the enormity of Graf’s accomplishment, once again adding a heart emoji to signal his admiration.

Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf set to revive their doubles partnership at Pickleball Slam 3

Earlier this year in February, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf joined forces to form a formidable doubles team at Pickleball Slam 2, where they defeated John McEnroe and Maria Sharapova in convincing fashion to claim the $1 million prize.
The duo will revive their blockbuster partnership at Pickleball Slam 3, set to take place in Las Vegas on February 12, 2025. They will battle it out against Andy Roddick and Eugenie Bouchard. Agassi and Roddick will find themselves on opposite sides of the net after triumphing as a pair in the event’s inaugural edition.
Andre Agassi has expressed his excitement about partnering with Graf once more, amid the “electric energy” of his hometown, joking that he “almost felt sorry” for Roddick and Bouchard.
“I can’t wait to return with Steffi and defend our title in February at Slam 3,” he said in a statement. “It’s an incredible opportunity to play in my hometown of Las Vegas, where the stakes are high, and the energy is electric. In this city, the odds are always in our favor, and I almost feel a little sorry for Andy and Genie.”
However, Andy Roddick was unfazed by Agassi’s confidence, asserting that he had “carried” his compatriot during their triumph at the inaugural Pickleball Slam. Nevertheless, Roddick admitted that he was “concerned” about facing Steffi Graf, calling the German a “force to be reckoned with.”
