Carlos Alcaraz being asked about Emma Raducanu seems to have done more harm than good when it comes to the Brit’s social media profiles with speculation that they are an item continuing despite the Spaniard shooting it down.
Raducanu was in attendance for the 2024 Wimbledon final on Sunday afternoon as he defended his SW19 crown with a commanding straight sets win over Novak Djokovic. But a question from a journalist seemed to spark those rumours into overdrive.
“I don’t know, I don’t know. I think a lot of people came to see the final,’ he said. ‘I think Novak and I always put on a good game, a show on the court. I think it is a beautiful game to watch.
“And she is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it. If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia [his home town] I would 100 per cent go to the final, even if I wasn’t playing. I don’t know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to ask her, but I hope she enjoyed the final.”
She posted a roundup of the final in what is called a photo dump on Social Media and fans were quick to comment. ‘When are you and Carlitos going public,’ one fan wrote. Another said: ‘Carlitos has already left a like.’
“Emma please let Carlos stay focused,” said another concerned fan. A situation blown way out of proportion with Raducanu known to be attending the final to meet the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton who she was spotted alongside. But Alcaraz rumours have rumbled for a while with the Spaniard in particular having fake quotes made about him saying about his love for the former US Open champion.
These have occasionally gone viral and people have been fooled by them. It seems though that this is a real life version and one that Raducanu and Alcaraz both will want to stop getting comments about no doubt.
