During a recent press junket in Mexico City for the Netflix action movie “Atlas,” Jennifer Lopez and her co-star Simu Liu decisively shut down a reporter who questioned Lopez about her rumored divorce from Ben Affleck. The inquiry came amid ongoing rumors about the couple’s marital status, which have surfaced during Lopez’s promotional tour for “Atlas.”

The tense moment unfolded when the reporter directed a question to Lopez regarding the divorce speculation. Liu, quick to intervene, responded firmly, “OK, we’re not doing that. Thank you so much. We really appreciate it … come on, don’t come in here with that energy.” Lopez, less restrained, addressed the reporter bluntly, stating, “You know better than that.”

The incident highlighted the protective camaraderie between the cast members of “Atlas.” Liu went on to praise Lopez, emphasizing her integral role not just as the lead actor but also as a producer of the film. “If I can just end on one thing,” Liu remarked, “Jen is a producer on this movie and the reason why I am here and the reason Sterling is in this beautiful movie is because Jen cares. Jen cares about things like representation and diversity. Jen is a boss.”

“Atlas,” directed by Brad Peyton of “Rampage” and “San Andreas” fame, features Lopez as a brilliant data analyst with a deep mistrust of artificial intelligence. The plot centers on her mission to capture a rogue robot, only to find herself in a precarious alliance with an AI robot to survive and save humanity. The film boasts a diverse cast including Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, and Mark Strong.

The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on May 24, promising an action-packed narrative intertwined with themes of technology and trust. Lopez’s involvement as a producer underscores her commitment to fostering diversity and representation in the film industry.
