Mauresmo quiere colaboración permanente de Nadal en Roland Garros

On May 25, Rafael Nadal received honors from Roland Garros in a relationship of mutual love for the rest of their lives. On the part of the tennis player and part of the tournament. That’s what Amelie Mauresmo, director of the tournament, wants to implement in permanent collaboration with the multi-champion.

“The most historic moment is Rafa in the Chatrier, receiving the affection of everyone, the public, the organization, the other great players of his time. I think those images, the stadium, the colors, the harmony in all this is probably what is maintained and will remain, yes. This was the most important,” said the former Spanish idol retired in 2024.

But he doesn’t want to stay in it and promises more Nadal chapters in Paris. How’s that? “As we have said, this is our common desire for the tournament and of it. Of course, first of all we focus on what was going to happen this year between the communication campaign and the tribute, but we will resume our conversations so that this 20-year history can continue in one way or another. So yes, there is a common desire, and we will find a way to do it, but I have a lot of confidence in it.”

With things to improve, he hopes that the next edition of Roland Garros will be even better: “As I said, not everything was perfect. We are aware of this, and we will certainly work on the solutions we can find for the future. There’s not much more than this. We will definitely discuss these issues and see how we can do to make it work better.”

Although Rafael Nadal left the professional circuit almost a year ago he still beats records. The tributes don’t stop, their aura raises sighs and their “main weapon” takes on value. As if it were the armor of a millennial warrior. Worthy of a museum.

At an auction, one of the King of Roland Garros rackets sold for more than 130 thousand euros. A record for a racket. The auction house celebrated the finding: “Finding a racket used by Rafael Nadal in a Grand Slam final is rare. Finding one used for an entire season on the ground and crowned with a title at Roland Garros is unprecedented.”

This racket, sold for the exact sum of 137 thousand euros, was used by the Spaniard to win his title in 2017 against Stan Wawrinka at the Bois de Boulogne.
