**Tiger Woods’ Sleepless Night Amid Trump Assassination Attempt**

Tiger Woods revealed his struggles with sleep after the shocking assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which occurred during Woods’ flight to Scotland for the 152nd Open Championship. The golfing legend, who arrived at Royal Troon exhausted, shared how the incident deeply affected his mental state and preparation for the tournament.

Woods, a 15-time major winner, admitted he was not as refreshed as he would have liked for his first practice round due to the disturbing news. “I didn’t accomplish a lot because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind,” Woods told BBC Sport on Tuesday. “It was a long night [because of the assassination attempt] and that’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here.”

The incident, which took place at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, saw Trump being shot in the ear by 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, resulting in the tragic death of retired fire chief Corey Comperatore and critical injuries to two other supporters. Despite his injury, Trump was seen pumping his fist with blood dripping from his face before being swiftly escorted to safety by Secret Service agents.

While Woods has largely stayed away from political discussions, he has known Trump for many years, having played golf and dined with him before and during his presidency. In 2019, Woods accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Trump, a move that drew both praise and criticism.

As Woods prepares for The Open Championship, he remains focused on his game despite the challenges. The golfing icon has faced a tough season, missing the cut at the PGA Championship and the US Open and finishing last at the Masters. Nevertheless, Woods is determined to compete at Royal Troon, stating, “I’ll play as long as I can play and I feel like I can still win the event.”

With only nine competitive rounds in 2024, Woods acknowledges the physical battles he faces but remains committed to saving his best efforts for major tournaments. As he takes center stage in Ayrshire, fans and analysts alike will be keenly watching to see if the legendary golfer can overcome his recent struggles and capture his 16th major victory.
