Speaking about the appointment and the standard of officiating, he said:๐ฃ๏ธ โI was surprised, having watched his recent performances, that Andy Madley was appointed to this game.
โ๐ฃ๏ธ โWe have elite referees within the group. We have a pecking order, and those referees that are in form should get this game.โHe further added:๐ฃ๏ธ โNext week, if I was doing the appointments, he ain’t got a game.
โThe former refereeing chief’s criticism comes after several controversial incidents at Anfield, most notably the penalty appeal involving Jurrien Timber and Alexander Isak, which has generated widespread debate. With refereeing standards already under intense scrutiny, this latest intervention raises another uncomfortable question about the consistency, accountability and appointment process within English football.๐
