Uli Hoeness criticises Liverpool over Luis Diaz transfer: ‘They must be tearing their hair out’

Uli Hoeness has taken aim at Liverpool while praising Luis Diaz, using his recent success at Bayern Munich to criticise the Premier League club’s transfer decisions.

Speaking on the podcast “Auf eine weiß-blaue Tasse”, the Bayern honorary president highlighted Diaz’s impressive form and suggested that Liverpool made a major mistake in letting him leave.

“Those in Liverpool really have to ask themselves what mistakes they made there,” the 74-year-old said. “They bought Isak for €150 million from Newcastle and let Diaz go for almost €70 million. They must be tearing their hair out when they see what he is doing.”

Diaz has been in outstanding form this season, registering 24 goals and 18 assists in 42 matches, becoming a key player for Vincent Kompany’s side.

“He is not only a good player and goalscorer, but also an incredible worker,” Hoeness added. “On his flank, nothing happens. He tracks back and helps defensively.”

Hoeness also warned against similar mistakes in transfer strategy, suggesting that Liverpool’s handling of the situation was questionable.
